Mount Gleason Gifted/High Ability Magnet provides:

  • An accelerated curriculum that prepares students for the rigors of high school and college work
  • Activities that are relevant, challenging, integrative and exploratory
  • Multiple learning and teaching approaches that respond to student diversity and needs
  • Multifaceted guidance and support services
  • A nurturing and safe environment

Specialized Curriculum and Instruction

Mt. Gleason offers students an academically rigorous and comprehensive curriculum to foster maximum academic achievement, positive character development, and strong leadership skills.  A technology-rich instructional program is designed to address individual learning styles and challenge every student to excel.  All students receive instruction in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, History, Physical Education, and Elective classes.  Advanced studies may include Algebra I in 7th grade and Geometry in 8th grade.

Transportation is provided for students if they reside outside a five-mile radius or outside the school attendance boundary, whichever is further.

Quick Facts

  • Mt. Gleason is located in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, near the I-210 freeway.  Mt.Gleason is in Educational Service Center North.
  • We operate on a traditional calendar.  The host school has a relatively small enrollment of about 800 students; the magnet schools will enroll approximately 270 students
     

Attention parents of 5th graders:

MAGNET SCHOOL VISITATIONS

You are cordially invited to visit our Magnet Program classrooms. We will meet in the Parent Center for introductions, then tour the school and visit some classrooms. We have scheduled these hours and dates for your convenience. Parking is available on campus. See you soon!!

 

You must apply for your child to get in our magnet. Do not assume that just because your child is in a magnet school or on a waiting list now that he/she will be automatically enrolled in our magnet. You must apply! The window to apply online is February 1st to September. 8th Grade students will need to apply to a high school magnet. Students are not enroll automatically. They need to apply and get accepted to be enrolled in a magnet of their choice.
