Library Hours & Procedures

Hours of Operation

Monday-Friday

8:00 am-3:45 pm

The library is always open for student use during break and lunch and for 30 minutes after school each day.

Book Circulation Policies

Students may check out books for two weeks at a time and renew as often as needed to either continue enjoying the book or for use during genre study reports or projects.

Number of books allowed: Students may check out up to three books at a time. More books may go out during the extended winter break.

Library Passes for Break and Lunch

Each semester, the librarian will distribute passes for break and lunch library time. Students, much like students attending lunch clubs throughout campus, must present this pass to campus aides and other supervisory staff members before leaving the lunch area to go to the library. Students must have their names on the passes and show these to the librarian upon entering and signing in near the circulation desk. Students must sign in upon entering the library, especially in case of emergencies, so the librarian has a roster of all library occupants.

Library Passes During Class Time

Teachers will send students with passes to the library during class time to edit and print essays, projects, and
conduct additional research if necessary. Students are encouraged to revise their work before printing due to limited ink and paper. Students must sign in by the computer area when they arrive and sign out, remaining respectful of both the equipment and the other students who need to use the computers and printing station during project and essay deadlines.

Fines and Lost or Damaged Materials

While the library currently waives all late fees, students are encouraged to respect the due dates and renew books and return the materials in a timely manner. Policies in high school, college, and the city libraries will vary and personal responsibility and respect for other patrons who seek titles are encouraged.

Students are expected to keep the library materials in their backpacks, separate from water bottles that can cause water damage. Students and parents/guardians will be informed of lost or damaged materials. There will be a choice to either pay for the lost/damaged book or, in cases of financial hardship, the replacement fee will be waived.
